So You Like Fashion, Huh?

On The Road To Wanderland:
Let’s recap what we know about fashion blogs – Bubbly and beautiful girls in heels courtesy of Miu Miu, Prada and other power design houses in the industry, traipsing around town, being photographed next to airstream trailers, railroad tracks and other painfully hipster backdrops by their boyfriends or husbands who just happen to be professional photographers. Each post carrying with it an endless amount of outfit inspiration but also a license to be insanely jealous of a girl who gets to blog about herself for a living, in designer shoes she didn’t even have to pay for. While I respect the fashion bloggers who have paved the way to designer sample sales and through racks of department store lipsticks, it’s time we got back to the basics of personal style, the part that’s actually personal.
Before the days of being sent items “courtesy of” everything people wore was something they actually handpicked or was a gift from a friend. The clothes and outfits had meaning; they had a story. Wanderland was created with hopes of becoming a breath of fresh air for the fashion blog scene, reminding us that style is meant to be unique and an expression of who we are, not what we were sent.
This blog aims to chronicle the wonderfully unique style of those whose lives don’t revolve around fashion, the ones who happen to live incredibly chic yet practical lives. You’ll find that the people featured on this blog are not models or fashion girl drones, drooling over the latest Marc Jacobs bag because fashion says they should. Instead, they seek out ways to make an item their own, even if that item is the final result of mass production.
Wanderland will be a go-to for getting a sneak peek at others’ personal style, with street style posts that showcase those roaming the streets of Austin who aren’t taking fashion too seriously, just personally. This blog will also feature DIY projects, tutorials and tips, store profiles and whatever else inspires me about the world of personal style at any given time.

A Little About Me:
I’m a journalism major living in Austin with a love for blogging and all things multimedia, oh and fashion too. I recently completed an internship with Lucky Magazine in New York City, where my appetite for fashion only grew, and of course, surpassed the means in my checking account. As a lover of designer clothing, I fall harder for clothes with a story, with a personal touch, remnants of who the person wearing the clothes is. You can find me in between the racks at stores all over the spectrum, from Abercrombie and Fitch to By George to Neiman Marcus to Goodwill. I am an equal opportunity shopper and huge fan of anything DIY. Despite the amount of clothes in my closet, I don’t consider myself a fashionista. Fashion is what you make it. I choose to make it personal.
Thanks for wandering over and y’all come back now ya hear?
